All you have to do is spray vinegar around your doors and windows. The flies will realise that the smell is coming from inside your house and will not want to enter your home. In addition, you can use it to clean some of your surfaces, as white vinegar is a very effective stain remover on many types of floors.

How to get rid of flies with essential oils?

Essential oils have incredible effectiveness in getting rid of flies and midges. For example, peppermint essential oil repels flies, as these little insects hate the smell of mint. There is also lavender essential oil, which acts as a repellent.

Prepare a solution of half a litre of water, ¼ litre of white vinegar and 10 drops of lavender essential oil. Then pour this mixture into a spray bottle and apply it several times a day to all your surfaces and plant leaves. You can also use geranium essential oil by diluting 8 drops in 100 ml of water. The mixture should then be sprayed in the same way as the lavender essential oil. You can also fill small pieces of sponge with citronella or tea tree essential oil and then scatter them around the house.

How to use black soap to get rid of flies?

To get rid of midges and flies that move in on the leaves of your houseplants, you can spray a solution prepared with black soap. To do this, dilute a large spoonful of black soap in 1 litre of warm water. Then add a teaspoon of baking soda. Mix well, put everything in the spray bottle and spray your plants.

Another amazing tip is to fill a clear bag or plastic bottle with water and hang it outside the front door of your home. As flies have very poor eyesight, they will mistake it for a spider's web and turn around instantly!

This will take a little time, but then you'll be safe. There are also anti-fly plugs, which are small devices with a high-frequency sound circuits. These plugs emit sound waves that are inaudible to the human ear and are effective in repelling insect pests. Alternatively, try the milk bowl trick. Fill a saucepan with milk and mix in 50 g of pepper and 100 g of brown sugar. Wait for your mixture to simmer, then pour it into a small bowl or plate. Put it on the table or windowsill: all the gnats and flies in your house will come and feast on it and stay trapped.
